Knudåge Riisager

Knudåge Riisager ( born March 6, 1897 in Kunda, Estonia, † December 26, 1974 in Copenhagen) was a Danish composer.

Riisager was born in a Danish family in Estonia. His father Emil initiated in Kunda cement factory.

Riisager studied in Copenhagen political science and beside music at Otto Malling and Peder Gram. He continued his musical education at Paul le Flem and Albert Roussel in Paris. There he came up with the Groupe des Six in touch and learned the compositions by Igor Stravinsky know. In 1932, he completed his training with Hermann Grabner in Leipzig.

From 1926 to 1947 Riisager was an official in Copenhagen from 1956 to 1967 he headed the Conservatory. He composed stage and symphonic works, concertos, chamber music and songs and wrote several musicological writings.
