History

Königsmoos belonged to Rentamt Munich and moss court of the Electorate of Bavaria. Most of the community was in kurbayerischen part of the Moss court. Smaller parts to Untermaxfeld were also in the duchy of Neuburg -Sulzbach. The settlement of the township did not begin until 1795.

The district Stengelheim originated in the initiative of Baron Stephan von Stengel draining the Donaumoos and was named after this.

Merger and Amalgamations

The community Königsmoos was established on January 1, 1975 through the voluntary merger of the three communities Klingsmoos, Ludwigsmoos and Untermaxfeld. Starting point for the naming was that the places I Joseph and Louis Moss had been named after King Ludwig I. Lower and Obermaxfeld by King Max. Klingsmoos was originally called Theresienwiese field, named after Queen Therese of Bavaria, wife of Ludwig I, named.

Nor were added areas of the market Pottmes, Aichach- Friedberg, and the communities Langenmosen and Wagenhofen On January 1, 1977. On 1 January 1978, the municipality Walda was dissolved. An area with 63 inhabitants came to Königsmoos. Larger parts of the territory have been incorporated into the parish churches marriage. Finally, on 1 May 1978 still parts of the dissolved municipalities Dinkelhausen and Hollenbach were added. At the same time the community of Berg im Gau came from parts of the territory.

Population Development

On the territory of the municipality were 1970 3.195, 1987, 3226 and 2000 counted 3,911 residents a year. Until 31 December 2011, the population further increased to 4,479 inhabitants.

Partner communities

Königsmoos maintains community partnerships with the two German communities Grosskarolinenfeld near Rosenheim ( since 12 January 2001) and Hergenfeld in Rhineland- Palatinate ( since 3 October 2010).

Grosskarolinenfeld is as Königsmoos in a former fen and was - as Königsmoos - at the instigation of the Elector Karl Theodor end of the 18th century settled by Palatine colonists and brought under cultivation.

Hergenfeld is the birthplace of significantly concerned in the cultivation of the Donaumoos electoral Forestry Chamber Director Johann Peter Kling, the namesake of the King Mooser part local Klingsmoos.

Donaumoos level

Impressive shows the lowering of the former marsh area in Donaumoos on Donaumoos level.
