Korbinian Holzer
Korbinian Holzer (born 16 February 1988 in Munich ) is a German professional ice hockey player who is since May 2010 with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League under contract and in parallel for their farm team, the Toronto Marlies, playing in the American Hockey League.
Career
His first steps on the ice made Korbinian Holzer at TuS Geretsried. In the season 2004/ 05 Holzer was the first time in the German junior league for the EC Bad Tölz. Already in the following year, the 1,89 m tall defender was appointed a regular player in the second division team Tolz due to its good performance. Even when EV Regensburg, for which he played since the season 2006/ 07, the right-handed shooter could multiply subscribe to the scorer list until mid-season. NHL Entry Draft 2006 Holzer was chosen by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fourth round at position 111, but not moved to North America, but in spring 2007 signed a contract until 2009 with the DEG Metro Stars of Dusseldorf. For the 2010/2011 season Holzer eventually moved to North America, where he played at the beginning of the season with the Toronto Marlies in the AHL and made his debut on 6 November 2010 as the first German in the history of the Toronto Maple Leafs in their home game against the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL.
On February 5, 2013 Holzer scored in a 3-2 victory over the Washington Capitals scored his first goal for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Internationally
Holzer ran in the U18 World Championship in 2005 in the Czech Republic for the first time on a junior team of the German Ice Hockey Federation. In addition, he arrived at the U18 World Cup 2006 in Sweden and in the U20 World Cup 2007 is used.
In the men's area, it was used in the 2010 Winter Olympics and the 2010 World Cup in Germany.
