Within four years, the club began to rise from the third division to the Ekstraklasa - Poland's top division - on. Since then, the association of many Polish players is considered a great prospect. Five players of the team have already been appointed to the Polish national football team in just the first two years of Erstligazugehörigkeit. Because of their offensive game, they are considered the most attractive team in the Ekstraklasa and their games are broadcast regularly on Polish television. This enhances the already good financial situation of the club even further. After the 2008 season, the club had relegated because of involvement in a corruption scandal in the first second-rate league.
