Kozlany (Vyškov District)

Kozlany ( German Koslan, formerly Kozlan ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers south of Vyškov and belongs to Okres Vyškov.

Geography

Kozlany is located at the northwestern foot of Litenčické Hills in the valley of the brook Rostěnický creek. To the north rises the Holý Kopec ( 374 m), to the east the Homole ( 336 m ) and southwest of the Maly Povětrník (316 m) and Větrník ( 394 m).

Neighboring towns are Bohdalice and Vážany in the north, Pavlovice in the northeast, Staré Hvězdlice in the east, Nové Hvězdlice, Komorov, Uhřice and Roštoutky the southeast, Šardičky and Kojátky in the south, Bohaté Málkovice, Letonice and Dražovice the southwest, Podbřežice in the west and Lysovice and Kučerov in the northwest.

History

The first mention of Kozlany was in 1360 as the Vladike Svatoch of Nezamyslice his son Racek of Bičice overwrote the income from two strokes of the village. 1376 sold the Vladiken of Nezamyslice Kozlany to the Augustinian Abbey of St. Thomas in Brno. The Augustinians joined Kozlany on to the Good Hvězdlice and operated in Kozlany an estate. Before the Thirty Years' War Kozlany was mainly colonized by Germans. As a result of the turmoil of war deserted the village and later the Order moved to Czechs. The oldest town seal dates from the mid -18th century.

After the abolition of patrimonial Kozlany formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Wischau. At the end of the 19th century the town had 550 inhabitants. 1950 Kozlany was assigned to the newly formed Okres Bučovice and came to the resolution with the beginning of 1961 back to Okres Vyškov. In 1976, the merger with Bohdalice - Pavlovice to the municipality Bohdalice - Kozlany. This broke up in 1990 again. Since 1998, the municipality performs a coat of arms and banners.
