KrAZ

KrAZ (Ukrainian " Кременчуцький автомобільний завод " - Krementschuker Automobile Plant ) is a former Soviet, now Ukrainian manufacturer of commercial vehicles in the city of Kremenchug, which is known for its trucks. The main areas of application are military. There are several versions as civilian commercial vehicles, eg trucks, tankers and flatbed.

History

In 1945, the decision was made to build a plant for the manufacture of mechanical parts and bridge elements made ​​of steel. On 1 June 1948, the plant began production of bridge elements. Mid-1950s was the conversion of production to agricultural vehicles.

The truck production began in 1958 with the acquisition of jaaz model KrAZ - 214. 1959 followed by the models 219, 221 and 222 that were not developed at jaaz. The KrAZ -219 was a heavy flatbed with 12 t payload, initially equipped with a 180 hp diesel. The derived KrAZ -222 was a truck with 20 tons working load. The cars had a fuel consumption of about 60 liters per 100 km at a maximum speed of about 50 km / h The performance of the engines was later increased.

In 1969, the production was switched to the KrAZ - 255mm range. The KrAZ - 260s series began in 1982. Until 1984, 500,000 trucks left the factory. The trucks were used in all of Eastern Europe.

Early 1990s was the introduction of the series KrAZ - 6510 in trucks and KrAZ - 5444 in tractors attempt to bring the work on market conditions. KrAZ trucks are often used because of its off-road capability for military purposes, but also often used for civilian purposes.
