Kriengsak Kovitvanit

Francis Xavier Kriengsak Kovitvanit ( Thai: ฟ รัง ซิ ส เซ เวี ย ร์ เกรียงศักดิ์ โกวิท วาณิช; * June 27, 1949 in Bang Rak, Thailand) is Archbishop of Bangkok.

Life

Francis Xavier Kriengsak Kovitvanit attended the seminary of San Giuseppe in Sam Phran. Subsequently, he was sent to continue his studies in Rome. Kovitvanit studied from 1970 to 1976 Catholic theology and philosophy at the Pontifical Urban University. On 11 July 1976 he received by the Archbishop of Bangkok, Michael Mihai Kitbunchu, the sacrament of Holy Orders.

Kovitvanit 1976 was parochial vicar of the parish of the Nativity of Mary in Ban Paen. From 1977 to 1979 he was curate of the parish of Epiphany Church in Ko Lanta Yai. Francis was Kovitvanit 1979-1981 chancellor of the seminary of San Giuseppe in Sam Phran. In 1981 he was sent to Rome for further studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University.
