Kristie Marano

Kristie Marano ( born January 24, 1979 in Albany, New York) is an American wrestler and two-time world champion.

Career

Kristie Marano comes from a Ringer family. Her father Conrad Stenglein and her brothers Matt and Joshua were also wrestlers. With the struggle she began in 1995 at the Colonie Central High School in Albany, after they had previously begun at the age of 5 years with this sport judo and operation up to the age of 16. After high school she attended Hudson Valley Community College and Piles Peak Community College. She studied physics.

When rings were or are her main coach Andi Momm, Archie Randall, Terry Steiner and Link Davis. She was also a member of the New York Athletic Club and coached for a long time at the Training Center of the U.S. Ringer Association in Colorado Springs. Early in her career she started taking her birth name Kristie Stenglein. In 1999, she married Chad Marano and took the family name Marano. Under this name they then had their greatest sporting successes for almost ten years. Even before that, in 1998, she gave birth to her first daughter Kayla. You noticing her pregnancy so late that it was still full before birth until a few weeks in training and participated in competitions. Even after the birth, she was already 10 days later on the wrestling mat. Later separated Kristie Marano of Chad Marano again and married Link Davis. This year, she also gave birth to her second daughter Lilly. She launched since 2009 under the name Kristie Davis.

As already mentioned, operational Kristie Marano as her name Kristie Stenglein first judo. She was so successful that she was in 1996 at the U.S. Olympic excretion ( Trials ) for the 1996 Summer Olympics to participate in Atlanta. The qualification did not succeed there, however. 1997 Kristie Marano in San Juan (Puerto Rico) winner at the Pan American Championships, again in the weight class up to 75 kg. In the Women's World Cup in Clermont- Ferrand, she won in the weight category up to 75 kg after beating Vanessa Civit from France, Saida Riabi from Tunisia and Anna Schamowa after a defeat in the final against Kyoko Hamaguchi of Japan turn the silver medal. In 1998, she participated in Fredrikstad / Norway for the first time at a World Youth Championship and won the title there before May Bente Eriksen from Norway and Edyta Witkowska from Poland. The change in this weight class brought her immediate success, as it was this year at the World Championships in Sofia in this weight class after beating Anna Schamowa, Tomeo Miyamoto from Japan, Xiomara Guevara from Venezuela and Lise Golliot - Legrand from France for the first time world champion at the women. A title, for she had truly earned in a row after four vice - world champion titles.

In the following years the results were not easy to achieve for Kristie Marano. Women's wrestling was more and more established and the competition grew. In 2001, she was in Santo Domingo Pan American champion again in the weight class up to 68 kg, but could not in the United States qualify for participation in the World Cup this year. In 2002, she was but at the World Championships in Chalkida / Greece at the start again and arrived there after beating Stanka Slatewa from Bulgaria and Shannon Collectibles from Canada, losing to Kateryna Burmistrowa from Ukraine and a win over Pruszko Ewelina from Poland to 3rd place, which meant winning a bronze medal.

2003 succeeded Kristie Marano to become world champion for the second time in New York. In the weight category up to 67 kg, it is successively struck jodeen Marie MacGregor from New Zealand, Martina Zyklova from the Czech Republic, Norie Saito from Japan, Shannon Collectibles and Ewelina Pruszko. She won it, the Junior World Championship medal in 1998 in the calculation, already their eighth world championship medal. In 2004, stood at the Olympic Games in Athens in four weight classes for the first time the women's wrestling on the program. Your being the last World Cup medal, their tenth, Kristie Marano won then at the 2007 World Championships in Baku. There, she defeated Agnieszka Wieszczek from Poland, Maider Unda Gonzales de Audicana from Spain and Güzäl Mänürowa from Russia before it was defeated in the final against Stanka Slatewa.

In 2008, Kristie Marano came at the U.S. Championships behind Ali Bernard, Catherine Downing and Iris Smith only to 4th place and also managed at the Olympic Trials are unable to qualify for the Olympic Games in Beijing.
