Krížová Ves

Križová Ves ( German Cross, Hungarian Keresztfalu ) is a municipality in the north of Slovakia with 2029 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It belongs to Okres Kežmarok, a part of the Prešov Region.

Geography

The municipality is located in the pelvis Popradská kotlina ( part of the larger Podtatranská kotlina ) on the right bank of Poprad, at the foothills of the eastern section of Levočské mountains. The center is located at an altitude of 616 m nm and is located 10 km from Kežmarok.

History

Križová Ves was first mentioned in 1290 as Krystur writing, but was founded before 1272 on the estate of the landowner Berzeviczy.
