Krzysztof Jurgiel

Krzysztof Jurgiel ( born November 18, 1953 in Ogrodniczki in Białystok ) is a Polish politician, member of Sejm 1997-2003 and since 2005, ( in the III. , IV, V, VI. , And VII Term). He was also a Senator from 2003 to 2005 ( V. Term), 1995-1998 Mayor (Mayor ) of Białystok and from October 2005 to May 2006 Minister of Agriculture in the cabinet of Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz.

In 1978 he finished the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography of the Warsaw Technical University and became an engineer for geodesy. He then worked in the years 1978 to 1980 as Head of Geodesy authority in Białystok, in the years 1981 to 1984 as a specialist for Geodesy in Baukombinat of Białystok and from 1984 to 1988 as an inspector in the province office of Białystok. In the years 1988 to 1994, he worked as an independent contractor and was the owner of the company for Geodesy and Cartography " Meridian ".

In 1994 he became councilor of Białystok, after which he was appointed Deputy Mayor for property sector and economic development. From 1995 to 1998 he was Mayor of Białystok. From 1998 to 2001 he was a Member of Parliament and Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of the Podlaskie Voivodeship.

In 1997 he was ( electoral alliance "Solidarity" - AWS) on the list of Akcja Wyborcza Solidarność elected to the Sejm. In the parliamentary elections of 2001 he was on the list of Prawo i Sprawiedliwość ( Law and Justice - PiS), Member of the Sejm. In 2003, he won a by-election to the Senate and became a senator of the Fifth legislature.

Since 1980 it belongs to the Solidarity trade union, was a delegate at the national conferences of this union. He belongs to the Association of Catholic families. From 1990 to 1999 he was in the national-conservative party Porozumienie Centrum ( " understanding heart ", PC) active duty and then in the party Porozumienie Polskich Chrześcijańskich Demokratów ( "Understanding Polish Christian - PPChD ) and since 2001 he is a member of the PiS, including the national board of directors and as chairman of the ethics committee.

In the 2005 parliamentary elections, he was again on the list of PiS MP for the constituency of Białystok. On 31 October 2005 he became Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the areas. This office he held until May 5, 2006.

In February 2006, said a journalist of the Polish tabloid " Fakt" at the then minister and gave himself as an assistant to Tadeusz Rydzyk, the Director of the National Catholic radio station Radio Maria and asked the Minister to provide him with a car available, because his car had a breakdown. The minister immediately agreed to provide the "Father Director " as Rydzyk is also called, a service car of the Ministry available. This matter was in no small scandal in Poland.

In the 2007 parliamentary elections, he won with 28 212 votes for the third time a deputy's mandate and was vice chairman of the Agriculture Committee in the Sejm. In the 2011 parliamentary elections, he was re-elected as a deputy and took over the chairmanship of the Agriculture Committee.
