Krzysztof Warlikowski

Warlikowski ( born May 26, 1962 in Szczecin ) is a Polish theater director.

Life

Warlikowski is one of the most influential younger directors Poland. Before becoming a director, he studied in Krakow history, philosophy and theater studies. There was also a study in Paris. Then he began at the State Academy of Theatre in Krakow studying directing and studied with the Polish director Krystian Lupa, who was also known internationally for its Thomas Bernhard interpretations. Warlikowski got the opportunity when European governments icons such as Peter Brook, Ingmar Bergman or Giorgio Strehler to assist. At Milan's Piccolo Strehler Theatre he staged Pericles.

Warlikowski works in Warsaw at the Teatr Rozmaitości, which makes his directorial work of young European authors such as Sarah Kane sensation and one of the most popular theaters in Poland. Outside Poland he worked at the Theatre Bouffes du Nord in Paris, and at the theaters in Nice, Tel Aviv, Zagreb, Amsterdam, Stuttgart and Bonn.

Most recently, he made ​​internationally of talk with Cleansed by Sarah Kane, Shakespeare's The Tempest (2003), the Jewish drama The Dybbuk (2003) by An- ski ( Shlomo Rappoport ) and Hanna Krall.
