Krzysztof Wielicki

Krzysztof Wielicki ( born January 5, 1950 in Szklarka Przygodzicka (glass village), urban and rural community Ostrzeszów ) is a Polish mountaineer.

Wielicki succeeded on February 17, 1980 along with Leszek Cichy the first winter ascent of Mount Everest.

On 14 July 1984 he was on Broad Peak, the first climber in the world, who climbed an eight -thousand in one day. On 20 October of the same year he stood on the summit of Manaslu, which he reached on a new route. This mountain he ascended a second time in 1992. 1986 he succeeded together with Jerzy Kukuczka the first winter ascent of Kangchenjunga; the two climbers reached the summit on 11 January. In the autumn of the year, or more precisely on 29 September, he mounted together with Marcel Rüedi Makalu via a new route variant. In 1988, he was the first who could climb the Lhotse in the winter. The summit success on New Years Eve was also the first solo ascent of the mountain. April 24, 1990 he succeeded the first solo ascent of Dhaulagiri. After the ascent of Annapurna on 21 October 1991, he ascended the Cho Oyu on 18 September and the Shishapangma on 7 October 1993 respectively on new routes. In 1995 he ascended both Gasherbrum I and Gasherbrum II A year later he was sent to the ascents of K2 on 10 August and Nanga Parbat on September 1, 1996, the fifth man who managed to climb all 14 eight-thousanders.

The Gasherbrum II in 2006 he mounted a second time.
