Kunde (village)

Development region

Khunde is a village in the Khumbu region of Nepal within the Sagarmatha National Park.

Location

Khunde lies together with the directly adjoining Village Development Committee Khumjung in a valley, the Khumjung Valley at the foot of the Yul Lha Khumbi, the sacred mountain of the Sherpas. The Khumjung Valley lies between 3800 m and 4000 m above N. N.. Khunde located in the western part of the valley and with 3840m slightly higher than Khumjung.

Infrastructure

In the village is the Khunde founded by Sir Edmund Hillary Himalayan Foundation operated Khunde Hospital. The hospital is responsible for the supply of the entire Khumbu region and operates in various other places smaller, occupied only one day the outpost. The two doctors in the hospital treating Khunde annually about 5000 Sherpa from the region and about 1,500 foreigners, mostly trekkers. The most common diseases are infectious diseases of the natives of the lungs, dysentery, skin and eye diseases. Most trekkers suffering from diarrhea or altitude sickness.
