Khumjung

Development region

Khumjung is a village ( Village Development Committee ) in the Khumbu region of Nepal within the Sagarmatha National Park. Khumjung is located along with the bordering village Khunde at an altitude of 3780 m in a valley, the Khumjung Valley at the foot of the Yul Lha Khumbi, the sacred mountain of the Sherpas. The Khumjung Valley lies between the famous villages of Namche Bazaar and Tengboche 3800-4000 m altitude. Khumjung is located in the eastern part of the valley and slightly deeper than customer.

In 1991, the city had 1809 inhabitants.

In the monastery of the village of the legendary Yeti scalp is issued. In the Khumjung Hillary Scool, the only secondary school of the Khumbu region is located. She is also named after Sir Edmund Hillary, the first man to climb Mount Everest, named as the small hospital in customer. Both organizations were founded by the Hillary Foundation and entertain today. This has the Khumjung Valley on a comparison with other mountain regions of Nepal good infrastructure in education and health care.
