Through donations, the Habsburgs expanded the urban privileges of the settlement. By 1337, Duke Albrecht received the settlement a private court and was freed from taxes. When the settlement was established in 1362 after a fire, she was able to secure more privileges. Duke Leopold said the settlement in 1370 a one year and a weekly market. The market was abandoned in the 18th century.

In the course of the Appenzell War in 1407 the town and castle was occupied by the people of Schwyz. In the Old Zurich War, the fortified town was badly affected and was built as an open village. As was the county Kyburg in 1424 to Zurich, the rights of the town remained preserved; it was given to him the lower courts and confirms the market right. 1671 Country scribbling of Pfäffikon was moved to Kyburg. 1798 lost all medieval privileges and the community was assigned to the district Fehraltorf. Between 1803 and 1815 it belonged to the district of Uster Grünigen. During the Restoration, it was again fit for the top office Kyburg. Since the administrative reform of 1831, the municipality of Kyburg belongs to the district Pfäffikon.
