La Lanterne-et-les-Armonts

La Lanterne -et -les- Armonts is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

La Lanterne -et -les- Armonts situated at an altitude of 454 m above sea level, 11 km east-southeast of Luxeuil -les- Bains and about 34 km northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the northeastern part of the department, in the western foothills of the Vosges, on the Plateau des Mille Étangs in the headwaters of the Lanterne.

The area of ​​9.89 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the plateau landscape on the western edge of the Vosges. The area occupied by a plateau, which belongs to the Plateau des Mille Étangs. The existing part of crystalline bedrock, partly from the lower Triassic sandstone plateau was formed by glaciers during the ice ages. The landscape is therefore divided into peaks and troughs. It shows a loose structure of pastures and woodlands, heaths and moors. In hollows are numerous small lakes which are mostly natural origin and during the ice age caused by glacial striation. Some ponds have been created by the monks since the 11th century for fish farming or jammed up. The largest pond on the church floor are the Etang of Sausses, the Etang de la Grande Chaussée and the Etang des Gouttes.

North of the village rises the lantern, the first westward, later flows south and gradually eintieft with their Alluvialniederung in the plateau. The 500 m wide flood plain marks the western boundary. The Lanterne takes on the communal land from east to her two tributaries, including the Ruisseau des Armonts. With 492 m is reached on the hill Frahier the highest peak of La Lanterne -et -les- Armonts. The northern boundary runs in the grove of the Grande Forêt. To the south, the municipality's area on the heights of Mont Bernard and Mont Gérard extends into the forest of Les Armonts. The entire municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges.

La Lanterne -et -les- Armonts is made up of villages, hamlets and farmsteads numerous:

  • La Lanterne (456 m ) south at the height of the depression of the Lanterne
  • Les Armonts (415 m) in the valley of the Ruisseau des Armonts
  • Les Granges du Bois (430 m ) on the east elevation of the Lanterne Valley

Neighboring communities of La Lanterne -et -les- Armonts are Les Fessey and La Voivre in the north, Écromagny in the east, and Mélisey Lantenot in the south and Belmont on the west.

History

In the Middle Ages La Lanterne and Les Armonts belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Faucogney. Together with the Franche- Comté reached both towns with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Since the time of the French Revolution La Lanterne and Les Armonts form a double community. Today, La Lanterne -et -les- Armonts is a member of the comprehensive 12 villages municipal association Communauté de communes de la Haute Vallée de l' Ognon. The municipality does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish of Belmont.

Attractions

The municipal area several Calvaires are from the 17th and 18th centuries.

Population

With 173 inhabitants (2007 ) La Lanterne -et -les- Armonts one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891 707 persons were still counted ), only relatively small fluctuations were recorded since the mid- 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

La Lanterne -et -les- Armonts is still a predominantly by agriculture (especially livestock and dairy industry, besides also farming and fruit growing ), forestry and fish farming embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in town. Some employed persons are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Froideconche after Écromagny. Further road links exist with Les Fessey and La Voivre.
