Miellin

Miellin is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Miellin situated at an altitude of 579 m above sea level, 4 km east of Servance and about 22 km north- northwest of the town of Belfort ( a straight line ). The village is located in the extreme east of the département, in the south-western Vosges Mountains, west of the Ballon de Servance, in the valley of Doue de l' Eau.

The area of ​​13.36 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the south-western Vosges. The main part of the area is occupied by the valley of Doue de l' Eau, which originates at the Ballon de Servance and ensures the drainage west to Ognon. History

In the Middle Ages Miellin belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The sovereignty over the territory had initially served the Lords of Faucogney. Later was Miellin of the reign Servance dependent, which passed in 1532 was sold to the monastery of Lure. Together with the Franche -Comté Miellin came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Attractions

The economic life of Miellin was influenced early on by the glassworks, the forge and the sawmills.
