La Racineuse

La Racineuse is a commune in the Bourgogne Saône -et -Loire. It belongs to the district Louhans, for Canton Pierre -de- Bresse and community association Canton de Pierre -de- Bresse. The municipality has 161 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). The inhabitants are Racenousais, respectively. Racenousaises called.

Geography

The municipality is located in the countryside of the Bresse, west of the D996 ( Navilly - Louhans ), the eastern boundary of the municipality is almost completely formed by the river Guyotte. To the municipality following the hamlet include Bellecroix, Biefs, Bois- Guillot, Bois -de- la -Valle, Camelin, Chaudières, Chaume, Colombier, Cours, Fley, Guidon, Guillodières, shark, Meixner, Moth, Paquier, Rothey, Rue - neuve, Vaugrenand, Verdelet, Vesvre.

Etymology

The name may be traced back to the clearing time ( racineux = strongly rooted ) and 1190 mentioned as Terra Racinosa, 1310 as domus hospitalis de la Racenousse. The area is generally heavily wooded and crisscrossed by ancient rivers of the Doubs.

History

The hamlet Bellecroix originally belonged to the Knights Templar, after its destruction followed the Order of St John as men of la Racineuse. Since the 13th century La Racineuse is mentioned as part of Serrigny or Mervans. 1255 was a oppitaul (probably a leper colony ), also mentioned is a fortified house in Valgrenans (now Vaugrenand ) indicating what even the nearby area name Motte. The rule Vaugrenand belonged in the 12th century Guy de Verdun, in the 16th century Baillet family. More power seats seem to have been in the hamlets Fley and les Cours. At the present cemetery was originally a half-timbered church. The church was originally part of Canton Mervans and in 1801 assigned to the Canton de Pierre -de- Bresse. In La Racineuse was the largest Domestikenmarkt the northern Bresse, in each case at John's Day, the last being in 1914.
