La Tour (Haute-Savoie)

La Tour is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

La Tour is located at 621 m above sea level. M., 23 km east-southeast of the city of Geneva (air line). The village extends Faucigny, in the basin of the landscape Sallaz the northwest foot of the Môle, in the Savoy Alps, near the Lac de Môle.

The area of ​​7.73 km ² municipal area comprises a portion of Faucigny. The main part of the municipality area occupied by the broad Talniederung of Sallaz between the Massif des Brasses and the Môle. This basin, in which the Lac de Môle lies is drained through a side stream of Foron west. In a narrow edge of the municipality sufficient ground north to below the Pointe des Brasses (up to 1400 m above sea level. M. ), spanning the little valley of the Ruisseau d' Entreverges. Neighboring communities of La Tour are Viuz -en- Sallaz in the north, Saint- Jeoire in the east, Saint -Jean -de- Tholome in the south and Peillonnex and Ville -en- Sallaz in the West.

History

The area of La Tour was already inhabited in prehistoric times. In the Middle Ages La Tour was part of the territory of the rule Faucigny. As part of the Dauphiné reached the place in 1349 in France, but was delivered in a country Abtausch to the Counts of Savoy under the Treaty of Paris in 1355. After La Tour shared the fate of Savoy.
