La Vaivre

La Vaivre is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

La Vaivre situated at an altitude of 337 m above sea level, 11 km north of Luxeuil -les- Bains and about 36 km north- northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the north of the department, on a plateau south of the Valley of Augronne, at the edge of the heights of Voge.

The area of ​​3.04 km ² municipal area includes a section on the eastern edge of the plain of Saint -Loup- sur- Semouse. The central part of the area is occupied by the plateau of La Vaivre, the average is 335 m and is used mainly for agricultural purposes. It is constructed of red sandstone of the Lower Triassic. With 358 m is reached on the hill north of the village is the highest elevation of La Vaivre. To the north the plateau falls relatively steeply to the Talniederung Augronne, which marks the northern border. In the east, the boundary runs in the valley of the Ruisseau du Sapin, a page of Bach's Augronne that separates the plateau from the western foothills of the Vosges. The western boundary runs along the forest edge of the Bois de Corbenay.

Neighboring communities of La Vaivre are Aillevillers -et- Lyaumont in the north, Fougerolles the east and south, and Corbenay in the West.

History

The discovery of an ax of bronze indicates a very early settlement of the area. In the Middle Ages La Vaivre belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Faucogney. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today La Vaivre is a member of the comprehensive 12 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Val de Semouse.

Attractions

The village is characterized by different farmhouses dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, showing the traditional style of the region.

Population

With 211 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) La Vaivre is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. Throughout the 20th century, the population decreased continuously (1881, 613 people were still counted ). Only in recent years, a stabilization was recorded.

Economy and infrastructure

La Vaivre is still a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in town. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Aillevillers after Fougerolles. The nearest railway station on the railway line from Lure via Luxeuil -les- Bains to Epinal is located in Aillevillers.
