Lagonoy Gulf

The Gulf of Lagonoy is a large bay in the southeast of the island of Luzon, in the Philippines. She is a Meeresausbuchtung in the southwestern Philippine Sea and extends from the east coast of the Bicol Peninsula, the Caramoan Peninsula to the island of Catanduanes. It is separated by the Rapu - Rapu Island, Batan, Cagraray and San Miuguel Iceland from the Gulf of Albay in the south.

The Gulf of Lagonoy is considered one of the richest fishing grounds on the east coast of the Philippines. It covers an area of ​​3701 km ² at a depth of 800-1200 meters. The coastline of the Gulf of Lagonoy is determined by a mixture of mangrove forests, sandy beaches and extensive marshy areas that fall dry at low tide. The shoreline in front are numerous coral reefs, which cover an area of 170 km ². Seagrass meadows occupy an area of 83 km ² and mangrove forests occupy approximately 6 square kilometers on the coast line.
