Lake Apopka

Lake Apopka is a lake in Lake County and Orange County in the U.S. state of Florida.

The lake has an area of 122 km ². On the shore the cities of Montverde and Ferndale in Lake County and Apopka, Ocoee, Winter Garden and Oakland are in Orange County.

The lake water is very dirty. A series of laws from the 1980s and the 1990s as the Lake Apopka Restoration Act (1985 ), the Surface Water Improvement and Management Act (1987) and the Lake Apopka Improvement and Management Act ( 1996) to the goal of improving water quality. The efforts are coordinated by the Authority St. Johns River Water Management District.
