Geography

Apopka is located 10 km north- west of Orlando.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 41 542 inhabitants distributed to 15,707 households. The population density was 666.8 inh. / Km ². 64.3 % of the population were white, 20.7% African American, 0.3% Native American and 3.2% Asian Americans. 8.3% were members of other ethnic groups and 3.3% in different ethnic groups. 25.4 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 20.5 % of all households lived in 42.0 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 76.5 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.88 and the average family size was 3.25 persons.

29.8 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 27.7 % were 20-39 years old, 27.5 % were 40-59 years old and 14.7 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 35 years. 48.5 % of the population were male and 51.5 % female.

The average annual income was $ 58,996, while 10.1 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 80.60 % of the population spoke Spanish 16.52% and 2.88 % had a different mother tongue.
