Winter Garden is a city in Orange County in the U.S. state of Florida with 34 568 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Winter Garden is located on the southern shore of Lake Apopka and 20 km west of Orlando. Adjacent cities are Ocoee and Oakland.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 34 568 inhabitants distributed to 13,260 households. The population density was 866.4 inh. / Km ². 68.8 % of the population were white, 16.0% African American, 0.4% Native American and 5.1% Asian Americans. 6.1% were members of other ethnic groups and 3.6% in different ethnic groups. 22.0 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 18.8 % of all households lived in 44.2 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 75.3 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.87 and the average family size is 3.28 people.

23.8 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 26.9 % were 20-39 years old, 27.2% were 40-59 years old and 13.8 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 35 years. 48.4 % of the population were male and 51.6 % female.

The average annual income was $ 65,424, while 7.5 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 82.26 % of the population spoke Spanish 15.99% and 1.75 % had a different mother tongue.

Through the urban area lead Florida State Roads 50, 91 (Florida 's Turnpike, a toll road ), 429 ( Daniel Webster Western Beltway, toll) and 438 Orlando airport is located around 40 km south-east of the city.
