Lake Jackson is a city in the U.S. state of Texas. It is located about 80 km south of Houston on the Gulf of Mexico in the municipality of Brazoria County.
The city was named in the marginal area of the city after a homonymous lake. The lake itself was given the name of a family who operate there before the Civil War, a plantation.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city covers an area of 51.3 km ², of which 2.0 km ² water surface.

According to the census of 2000, living in the city 7344 families. The population density is 535/km ². 86.2 % of residents are white, 3.9 % black, 0.4% Native American and 2.5 % Asian; 14.7% belong to the Hispancis and Latinos, 0.02 % come from the Pacific Islands, 1.8% are from two or more races.
In the city there are 9588 households. In 42.6 % of the households live children under 18 years in 64.7 % married couples, in 8.5% of single mothers and 20.0 % singles. The average household size is 2.74 persons, the average family size is 3.18. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 female persons over 18 years are 95.4 men and boys.
The median household income is 60 901 USD, the median income of a family 69 053 USD. 6.4 % of residents live below the poverty line.
History
The town developed in the early 1940s from a set up for the Dow Chemical Company a new residential area. Community rights became a city on March 14, 1944.

In the city there are more than 30 Christian churches and religious communities (as of 2006). Schools in Lake Jackson Brazosport Independent School District belong to. The city itself has six schools. The number of banks and bank branches is about 20
