Lancaster Gate tube station

Lancaster Gate is an underground station of the London Underground in the City of Westminster. It lies on the northern edge of Hyde Park on Bayswater Road in Bayswater area. The area served by the Central Line and located in the Travelcard Zone 1 station was used in 2011 of 6.68 million passengers.

The opening took place on July 30, 1900 by the Central London Railway, the predecessor of the Central Line. The original station building was from Harry Bell Measures, it was demolished in 1968 and replaced by a modern building of the architectural firm TP Bennett & Son, originally housed offices, but is now used by a hotel.

From July 3 to November 13, 2006, the station was closed to allow a modernization of the old elevators. During the work we renovated the rest of the station and provided them with improved video surveillance. Paddington Station is located about five minutes walk away.
