Lars Karlsson (ice hockey)

Lars Olof Karlsson ( born June 28, 1960 in Kiruna ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player.

Career

Lars Karlsson began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Kiruna AIF for the first team, he was active in the second-class Division 1 1976-1979. Then the defender played for five years for Leksand IF in the Elitserien. For the 1984/85 season he moved within the Elitserien to IF Björklöven, with whom he won the Swedish championship title in the 1986/87 season. In the 1988/89 season the links Sagittarius rose with his team into the second class Division 1. From this he reached with IF Björklöven in the 1992/93 season 's re-emergence in the Elitserien. In the 1993/94 season he ran for the Lycksele SK on in the third-tier Division 2, before he ended his career at the age of 34 years.

Internationally

For Sweden, Karlsson took at junior level at the U18 European Junior Championships in 1978 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 1979 and 1980 in part. In all three tournaments he won with his team bronze medals.

In the senior level, he stood in his country's squad at the 1987 World Championships and at the Olympic Winter Games in Calgary in 1988. In addition, he represented Sweden in 1987 at the Canada Cup. In the 1987 World Cup he won with his team the gold at the 1988 Winter Games bronze medal.
