László Tábori

László Tábori ( born July 6, 1931 in Košice ) is a former American middle and long distance runner of Hungarian origin.

In 1955 he stayed with 3:59,0 as the third person ever in the mile run under four minutes. In the same year he exhibited together with the Dane Gunnar Nielsen, a world record in the 1500 meter race of 3:40,8 min and was Hungarian champion over this distance.

In 1956 he became the national champion in cross-country running on the short haul. At the Olympic Games in Melbourne, he was fourth over 1500 meters and sixth in the 5000m. Since shortly before the Hungarian national uprising was put down, he sat down after the Games to the United States from.

Since he was not allowed to start for the U.S., he failed to participate in the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. In 1960 he won at the Open British Championship in the mile run, 1961, he was U.S. champion over three miles.

László Tábori was later successful as a coach. For over 30 years he has worked for the San Fernando Valley Track Club. He was responsible, among other things, the marathoners Jacqueline Hansen and Miki Gorman.
