Lauri Aus

From Lauri (born 4 November 1970 at Tartu; † July 20, 2003 ) was an Estonian cyclist.

Life

The professional career began in 1995 when Lauri From the French team Mutuelle de Seine- et- Marne. After four victories in 1996 he was obliged in the following year alongside his compatriot Jaan Kirsipuu for the team of the casino. He remained until his death in this team, which was renamed in 2000 AG2R. Because of its Sprinter qualities he won among other things a Tour du Limousin (1997 ), a Tour du Poitou -Charentes (1998), Classic Haribo (1998), as well as a Grand Prix d' Isbergues (1999). He was fifth at Milan - Sanremo in 1999. In 2000, he was Estonian road champion.

1992, 1996 and 2000 represented from his home country at the Olympic Summer Games. In Barcelona in 1992, he finished fifth in the road race.

In July 2003, while his team-mates the Tour de France denied he was approached during a training ride in his home country between Aovere and Kallaste by a drunk driver and died as a result of injuries suffered thereby. From Lauri was married and the father of two children.
