Lawrence Humphrey

Laurence Humphrey (* 1527 in Newport Pagnell, Buckinghamshire, † February 1, 1590 in Oxford) was a Puritan theologian.

Laurence Humphrey studied at Oxford and Cambridge. After the accession of Mary I and the resulting incipient recatholicization in England Humphrey fled to Zurich and Basel. There he was in close contact with John Jewel and John Parkhurst. 1558, after the death of the Queen, Laurence Humphrey went back to England. In 1560 he became a professor at Oxford and a year later President of Magdalen College. 1571 Humphrey Dean in Gloucester and 1580 in Winchester.
