Lazaros Papadopoulos

Lazaros Papadopoulos (Greek Λάζαρος Παπαδόπουλος, born June 3, 1980 in Krasnodar, Soviet Union) is a Greek professional basketball player.

Career

Lazaros Papadopoulos was born as Lazar Popandopulo 1980 in Krasnodar, Russia. His mother is Russian, his father comes from a pontos - Greek family from Russia. The family moved to the disintegration of the Soviet Union to Thessaloniki.

His professional career began therefore the 2.10 m wide Center 1996 Iraklis Thessaloniki, where he rose to a five- year contract. In 2001 he moved for two years to Panathinaikos, where he was able to win his first title at club level. In addition to the Greek Cup in 2003 Papadopoulos won the cup in 2003 and the ULEB League Euro 2002. After three seasons in the Russian Basketball League at Dynamo Moscow Papadopoulos moved to Real Madrid in 2007. His athletic achievements were winning the Eurobasket 2005 with Greece, as well as winning the Euro League 2002 with Panathinaikos Athens. In the basketball world championship in 2006 with Greece Papadopoulos reached the finals and won the silver medal there.
