Le Peuchapatte

Le Peuchapatte was until December 31, 2008, a municipality in the district Franches- Montagnes in the canton of Jura in Switzerland.

She has merged with effect from 1 January 2009 the municipality Muriaux Muriaux.

Geography

Le Peuchapatte was above sea level with 1,131 m. M. the highest municipality of the canton and is located 7 km south-southwest of the district municipal seat Saignelégier (air line). The farming village extends to the back of a Jura chain of mountains free (French Freiberge ).

Population

With 37 inhabitants ( end of 2007) Le Peuchapatte was one of the smallest municipalities in the canton of Jura. Of the residents, 97.4 % are French-speaking and German-speaking 2.6% (as of 2000). Economy

History

Le Peuchapatte was the youngest in the open mountains. It was founded in 1530 by the family Chapatte from Les Breuleux. The village belonged to the manor free mountains covered by the prince-bishops of Basel. Between 1793 and 1815 Le Peuchapatte belonged to France and was initially part of the département du Mont- Terrible, associated from 1800 with the Department of Haut -Rhin. By the decision of the Congress of Vienna, the place came in 1815 to the canton of Bern and on 1 January 1979 at the newly founded Canton Jura.

Attractions

The chapel Notre- Dame-du -Sacré - Cœur was newly built in 1972 with the inclusion of parts of the neo-Gothic previous building.
