Lebanese general election, 1996

Parliamentary elections were held between 18 August and 15 September 1996 at Lebanon. Independent candidates won the majority of seats, although most of them were considered as members of different blocks. The turnout was 43.3 percent. There was 1.11313 million voters.

Results

Of the 94 independent MPs 66 were considered as members of different blocks:

  • 25 in the Hariri block
  • 13 in Birri block (plus the eight members of the Amal movement )
  • 5 in Hrawi block
  • 5 in Murr- block
  • 4 Jumblatt in the block (plus the five members of the Progressive Socialist Party )
  • 4 in Huss - block
  • 4 in Faranjiyyah block
  • 3 in the block of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (plus a deputy of the Party)
  • 2 in the Hezbollah - block ( plus the seven Hezbollah MPs )
  • 1 in Hubayqa block ( plus the deputies of the Party promise )
