Lee Jung-su

Only 1 overall, no track victories

Lee Jung -su ( born November 30, 1989 in Seoul) is a South Korean Shorttracker.

Lee started for the first time in January 2006 at the Junior World Cup in Miercurea Ciuc International, where he won two silver medals over 1500 meters and 1000 meters from the start. He also qualified for the Super Final of the best athletes in which he won. One year later in Mladá Boleslav Lee cut at the Junior World Championships from very successful by winning two races, finished second overall and was the Junior World Champion Season. Nevertheless, the South Korean association nominated him in the following season not for the short track speed skating World Cup, so he again took part only in the Junior World Championship, where he finished for the second time in a row in second place. To this end, he triumphed as the previous year with the squadron. However, the jump in the most important competition series succeeded Lee as recently as October 2008, when he celebrated his first World Cup start in the 2008 /09 season. He reached in his first four single starts three wins, two on the 1500 - meter distance, the third over 1000 meters. He also won once with the season, so are already four World Cup victories to book after six races until November 2008.

At the Olympic Winter Games 2010 in Vancouver Lee won the opening race over 1500 meters. He already put forward in a new Olympic record he improved again in the semifinals. In the finals it looked like a triple victory for South Korea; However, Lee Jung -su's teammate Lee Ho -suk and Sung Si -bak took each other to case and so lost their medal chances. The 20 -year-old pulled away this fall and was Ahn Hyun- soo's successor as Olympic champion over this distance.

Like several other Shorttracker in the South Korean team studied Lee at Dankook University.
