Leigh Broxham

Leigh Michael Broxham ( born January 13, 1988 in Melbourne) is an Australian football player. The midfielder is since 2006 in the A-League with Melbourne Victory under contract.

Club career

Broxham played between 2003 and 2005 at the Victorian Institute of Sport. Two broken legs in the first half of 2006 ensured that he initially was not given a professional contract in the A-League. He trained with at Melbourne Victory and was to have made the club as team manager and equipment manager for an income. Towards the end of the 2006/07 season he was offered a professional contract and he came in the last three games of the league round used. In the championship final against Adelaide United he was substituted after an hour in the 6-0 victory.

In the 2007 /08 season Broxham was during much of the season to the permanent staff, missed with Melbourne at No. 5 lying but a place in the finals. In the second championship title within three seasons Broxham played only a minor role and was in the course of the season 2008/ 09, only eight times as a substitute for use in the finals he did not work with. His situation changes after a good pre-season in the season 2009/10 fundamentally, as he missed his only season game just because of a yellow card suspension and qualified in September 2009 as the best U-21 player of the month for election to the Young Player of the Year. He finally reached the Melbourne Cup final, where they lost to rivals Sydney FC on penalties. Broxham transformed as one of two Melbourne players his penalty kick.

National

In 2005 he took over as a regular player with the Australian U- 17 team at the U - 17 World Cup in Peru in part. After regular inserts in the U -23 he came in March 2008 in a friendly match against Singapore for the first time for the Australian national team for use. Participation in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, he missed as one of four reserve players almost on demand.
