Leithe

Leith is a district in the borough Wattenscheid. He was appointed as Leithe (Westphalia ) and in documents often referred to on 1 April 1926 as Westfälisch Leithe before its annexation to Wattenscheid. A portion of the dissolved municipality was reclassified to Gelsenkirchen. Through the incorporation Wattenscheids Leithe came on 1 January 1975 to Bochum.

At the city limits of Essen is the distillery Schulte Kemna, which produces the Westphalian schnapps wheat Young among others.

At the Gelsenkirchen Street is in the front yard of the Evangelical church, a 1.5 -ton monument of steel casting process of bells, with which the Bochum club has earned its great reputation.

The bell " Auguste Victoria " 1893 cast, and exhibited at the World Exhibition 1894 in Chicago. Later it was donated by its namesake, the Empress Augusta Victoria, the Berlin Gnadenskirche to the inauguration. Thanks to the Berlin pastor Merkel escaped the bell of destruction on a junkyard, where they had landed after the Second World War and after the destruction of the Church. In a roundabout way through Berlin privately owned and Thuringia the bell came on March 2, 1990 after Leithe.

The local football club Red White Leithe currently plays in the county league.
