The Samtgemeinde Lengerich is an integrated municipality in the Emsland district, in Lower Saxony. The administrative headquarters of the velvet municipality is in the municipality of Lengerich.

Geography

Geographical Location

The Samtgemeinde Lengerich lies to the east of the county about 16 km east of the Ems.

Neighboring communities

In the north, the Municipality Lengerich borders the municipality Geestemünde, the city Haselünne and the Municipality Heart Lake, on the east by the Municipality Fuerstenau in the district of Osnabrück, on the south by the Municipality Freren and to the west by the town of Lingen.

Samtgemeinderat

The Samtgemeinderat has 24 elected members, as well as the directly elected mayor Samtgemeinde. Him since the local elections on 11 September 2011 consists of three parties.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 14 July 1978.

Description: In the blue coat of arms are as St. Andrew's cross two golden pastorals with open screw outwards. Corner figures are two golden Greek crosses ( cross paws ) on the sides, top and bottom of a golden sheaf a golden anchor.

The Abtstäbe are the arms of the Abbey taken from Will. The two crosses represent the two old parishes of the velvet municipality area in Lengerich and Bawinkel. The sheaf symbolizes the predominant in the area Samtgemeinde agriculture, especially the cultivation of grain. The anchor refers to the membership of the velvet municipality to the former county Lingen and former Lower County of Lingen, in both of whose crest he stands. The colors blue - gold colors are the coats of arms of the district of Kreuzlingen and the counts of Tecklenburg -Lingen.

The coat of arms was designed by heraldist Dr. Ulf -Dietrich grain from Münster.
