In the Samtgemeinde Werlte from the Lower Saxony Emsland district, five communities have joined together to do their administrative business.

The municipality, which covers 200.11 km ², has 16,050 inhabitants.

Geography

Geographical location

The Samtgemeinde Werlte located in the Emsland region east of the wooded hills of the Geest Hümmling that the Ems and Hase far north of the north-east of Meppen is located east.

Neighboring communities

The integrated municipality is bordered to the north by the Municipality Nordhümmling, on the east by the city Friesoythe, the communities Molbergen and relief in the district of Cloppenburg, on the south by the Municipality Heart Lake and to the west by the Municipality Soegel.

Policy

The administrative headquarters of the velvet municipality is in the municipality of Werlte.

Samtgemeinde Mayor

Samtgemeinde Mayor Werner Gerdes ( CDU). Gerdes was confirmed at the last local elections on 10 September 2006, 71 % of the vote in his office.

Samtgemeinderat

The council has 30 elected members. Then there is the directly elected mayor. Him since the local elections on 11 September 2011 Council belong to women and councilors from four parties and voter communities.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms of the velvet municipality Werlte describes a fünfspeichiges gear, surrounded by four golden ears of corn on a red background. The gear wheel with five spokes was the coat of arms of Werlte removed while the four ears of corn represent the remaining communities of the velvet municipality. The color combination of red and gold are also found here, the colors of the ancient monastery of Corvey.
