Leninsky, Sakha Republic

Leninsky (Russian Ленинский; Yakut Ленинскай ) is an urban-type settlement in the Republic of Sakha ( Yakutia) in Russia with 1866 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The village is located about 450 km as the crow south-southwest of the capital city of Yakutsk in the Republic Aldanhochland. It is located on the river Bolshoi Kuranach ( Big Kuranach ) in the system of Aldan.

Leninsky Raion Aldanski belongs to and is located 5 km south-east of the administrative center of Aldan. The settlement is the seat of the municipality ( gorodskoje posselenije ) Possjolok Leninsky, which also includes the urban-type settlement Lebediny (9 km south, at the headwaters of the Bolshoi Kuranach ) and the village Jakokut (17 km east-southeast, the Aldan Creek Jakokit ) belong.

History

The place was under the name Nishne - Stalinsk (also Nizhny Stalinsk ) founded in 1929 as a gold prospector settlement and received in 1932 the status of an urban-type settlement. The name refers to Josef Stalin; Nishne - means Unter-/Nieder- in contrast to the now-vanished mining settlements Sredne- Stalinsk and Werchne - Stalinsk, middle-and upper - Stalinsk further upstream. In 1962 the estate its present name after Lenin. Ever since the gold mining industry in 1998 abandoned the settlement is primarily residential suburb of the city of Aldan.

Traffic

The highway A360 Lena Newer to Nizhny Bestjach at Yakutsk (previously M56, number until 2017 alternatively use) leads a few miles west of Leninsky past the town of Aldan, as well as the Amur - Yakutian Railway Mainline ( Ajam ), the Trans-Siberian Railway and the Baikal - Amur Mainline (BAM ) to the Yakut capital.
