Levan Kenia

Levan Qenia (Georgian ლევან ყენია; born October 18, 1990 in Tbilisi, FIFA spelling according to English transcription Levan Kenia; nickname Shakira ) is a Georgian footballer who plays mostly as an attacking midfielder.

Career

Association

Levan Qenia is a nephew of former national player Giorgi Kiknadse. He was already in his youth as a great talent and graduated as a 14- year-old a training course at FC Barcelona. His first games in a first-class professional league he graduated from in 2006 for his hometown club Locomotive Tbilisi. In January 2008, he joined the German Bundesliga FC Schalke 04, who first appointed him as A- adolescents in the U-19 league. At the beginning of the 2008/ 09 Qenia ascended to the first team squad. However, due to the regulations he was not allowed to play before his 18th birthday in the Bundesliga. Since other regulations apply to international games, he could contest the UEFA Cup home game against APOEL Nicosia on October 2, 2008, although he had not yet reached his majority. In spring 2009 it repeatedly threw back injuries, so that he came only to a single Bundesliga use in the course of the season: in the match against Karlsruher SC, he was brought on 11 April 2009 just before the end. In the following season, 2009/10 Qenia played under new coach Felix Magath in the starting eleven of the Bundesliga, before throwing it back in November 2009, the operation after an ankle injury. Throughout the 2010/11 season and the first half of the season 2011/12 he no longer came as a result are used. It was not until 27 January 2012 Qenia returned after two years and three months back on the training pitch.

After working in the U -17 and U-19 selections of his country Qenia played in June and August 2007 for the U-21 national team. Even at age 16 he ran the first time for the Georgian national team. He made his debut on September 8, 2007, in the qualifying match for the 2008 European Championships against Ukraine. With the bench in the 62nd minute, he became the youngest-ever international match debutant his country. Only five days later he was in a friendly match in Azerbaijan for the first time in the starting lineup of the Georgian team.
