Levan Sanadze

Levan Sanadse (Georgian ლევან სანაძე, Russian Леван Санадзе, English transcription Levan Sanadze, born August 16, 1928 in Tbilisi, . † 24 August 1998 in Moscow) was a Georgian athlete who for the Soviet Union launched internationally and especially as a relay runner successfully had.

Sanadse won at the European Athletics Championships 1950 in Brussels, together with Vladimir Sukharev, Levan Kaljajew and Nikolai Karakulow the gold medal in the 4 x 100 - meter relay ahead of the teams from France and Sweden. At the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki, he won together with Boris Tokarev, Levan Kaljajew and Vladimir Sukharev the silver medal behind the U.S. relay. In the 100 - and 200 -meter run, he could not qualify for the final itself. Finally, he completed his collection of medals at the European Athletics Championships in Berne in 1954. In the relay, he won with Boris Tokarev, Viktor Ryabov and Leonid Bartenew the bronze medal behind the teams of Hungary and the United Kingdom.
