Licínio Rangel

Licínio Rangel ( born January 5, 1936 in Campos, Brazil, † December 16, 2002 in Rio de Janeiro) was a Catholic bishop.

Life

Rangel was ordained priest on 24 September 1967. He was Bernard Tissier de Mallerais without papal mandate on 28 July 1991 in Rio de Janeiro São Fidelis bishop of the Society of St. Pius X ( SSPX ) ordained; Alfonso de Galarreta and Richard Williamson were co-consecrators. He was the successor of Antônio de Castro Mayer as Chairman and Superior of the Priests Association St. John Mary Vianney.

The end of 2000 acted Licínio Rangel with the Vatican, the modalities of a return of the " Association of St.. John Mary Vianney " ( SSJV ) and its 25 priests in full communion with the Holy See. These included that the union was canonically erected on 18 January 2002 as Apostolic Administration personnel on the territory of the Diocese of Campos. End of 2001, Rangel's excommunication was lifted, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Zarna and determined for the first Apostolic Administrator.

Due to serious illness he received on 28 June 2002 a coadjutor in the person of the titular bishop of Cedamusa appointed Fernando Areas Rifan. This was consecrated on August 18, 2002 by Cardinal Castrillón Hoyos and Licínio Rangel after the earlier Roman Pontifical ( used in its 1962 version) Bishop Rangel and followed after his death as Apostolic Administrator.
