Licoma Pampa Municipality

The municipality Licoma Pampa (also: Villa Libertad Licoma ) is a district in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes State of Bolivia.

Location in near space

The municipality Licoma Pampa is one of six Municipalities of the province Inquisivi and is located in the central part of the province. It is bordered to the west and southwest by the municipality of Quime, in the southeast and east by the municipality of Inquisivi, and to the north by the municipality of Cajuata.

The municipality has 21 localities ( Localidades ), the administrative center of the municipality is Licoma with 1,036 inhabitants in the northern part of the municipality. (2001)

Geography

The municipality Licoma Pampa is located on an average altitude of 2800 m on the eastern side of the Cordillera Quimsa Cruz, between the Bolivian Altiplano in the west and the Amazon lowlands to the east.

The mean average temperature in the valley region of the district is about 22 ° C, the annual precipitation is 700 mm (see climate chart ). The region has a pronounced diurnal climate, the monthly average temperatures vary only slightly between 18 ° C in June / July and 24 ° C in November / December. The months of April to October arid, the monthly rainfall range from less than 10 mm during the months of June and July and between 130 and 150 mm from January to February.

The population of the municipality Licoma Pampa has increased by about 35 % over the past two decades:

The municipality had at the last census in 2001 a population density of 18.5 inhabitants / km ². The life expectancy of the newborn was in 2001 only 55.7 years, the infant mortality rate is 9.5 per cent ( 1992) declined to 9.1 percent in 2001.

The literacy rate for those over 15 years is 77.9 percent, and 87.4 percent, although in men and 67.5 percent for women ( 2001).

91.9 percent of the population speak Spanish, 59.6 percent speak Aymara, Quechua and 3.9 percent. (2001)

60.4 percent of the population have no access to electricity, 83.7 percent have no sanitary facilities ( 2001).

70.6 percent of the total of 738 households have a radio, 27.4 percent have a television, 14.0 percent a bicycle, a motorcycle 13.1 percent, 2.7 percent, a car, a refrigerator, 4.9 percent and 0.0 percent a telephone. (2001)
