The International Liège - 1905 (fr: Exposition Universelle et Internationale de Liège) was the World's Fair in Liege, from 27 April to 6 November 1905.
History
Already in 1897, a preparatory committee was formed. For the implementation of the World Expo 1905 has been selected, the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Belgian state. 1903 began with the construction of the exhibition halls.
At the World's Fair was attended by 39 countries, including France, Germany, England, Japan, Turkey, Persia, China, Russia and the United States. The exhibition grounds in Boverie, at the confluence of the Meuse and the Ourthe, included 21 acres. Against 50 pavilions of nations and private companies have been built upon and 15,000 exhibitors were represented at the exhibition.
As a New cinematograph were brought from French production and a show about the importance of fingerprints in criminology, among others. The Galerie des Machines was dedicated to the technical progress in Belgium. The Palais de Beaux Arts mainly works from France and the USA were shown.
The World Expo 1905 in Liège recorded 7 million visitors and closed with a gain of 75 117 Belgian francs.
Reuse
The building complex Palais de Beaux Arts was left of the city. It now houses the Museum d' Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporaine.
