Lissie

Lissie ( born November 21, 1982 in Iceland skirt, Illinois when Elizabeth Corrin Maurus ) is an American folk rock singer- songwriter.

Life and career

Lissie was born in 1982 in Rock Iceland, Illinois and grew up there. She is the daughter of a doctor and an interior designer. She is interested in singing and music since childhood. She played the lead role in the musical Annie at the age of nine years.

She spent two years at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. During this time they played in the interlude of various musicians who appeared in the city. Lissie worked with DJ Harry of SCI Fidelity Records together on the song All My Life, which ran in House MD, The OC, Veronica Mars and Wildfire on television. After a semester abroad in Paris, she broke off her studies to pursue her music career. In 2007, she produced an EP with four songs that were played on radio station KCRW in Santa Monica, California in the show Morning Becomes Eclectic.

Beginning of 2008, Lenny Kravitz invited her to the opening act of his Love Revolution Tour, a. Before him a friend had pointed out Lissie's MySpace page. In the same year reached The Longest Road, a song she co-wrote with Morgan Page, # 4 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs. We met with the intention that he remixed one of my songs. [ ... ] But then we decided to take a completely new song, Lissie told the Quad -City Times. The Deadmau5 remix of The Longest Road was nominated for a Grammy in the category of "Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical " nominated in 2009.

In November 2009, she released her EP Why You Runnin ' on the independent label Fat Possum Records. Why You Runnin ' was produced by Bill Reynolds, a member of the indie rock band Band of Horses. Their debut album, Catching a Tiger was released in June 2010 on Columbia Records. In November 2011, Lissie released her EP Covered Up with Flowers at Fat Possum Records. This EP is a collection of five different cover songs. Among these are, with Bad Romance by Lady Gaga, Pursuit of Happiness by Kid Cudi and Nothing Else Matters by Metallica, three songs that played Lissie already in their live performances. In addition, Covered Up with Flowers includes two new cover songs. These are firstly Games People Play by Joe South and on the other The Ship Song by Nick Cave.

In October 2013 appeared Lissie's second studio album, Back to Love.

During their performances Lissie takes over singing and guitar playing.

She currently lives located in Ojai ( Ventura County, California ), a small town 100 kilometers northwest of Los Angeles.
