Loenga–Alnabru Line

The railway line Loenga - Alnabru ( norw Loenga - Alnabrulinjen ) is a 7.3 km long railway line in Norway. It leads from the station to the train yard Loenga Alanbruterminalen. 700 meters of the route are expanded to double track.

History

The track opened in 1907, serves the freight transport in Oslo. It combines Østfoldbanen and Hovedbanen without going through Oslo Sentralstasjon. The route follows the course of Alnaelv, which is partially cased since 1922, of Loenga after Alnabru. In Lodalen the route to Alnabru runs alongside the Hovedbane and of Lodalen to Etterstad next to the Gjøvikbane. The track is a single track, the space for a future second track, however, is available.

The freight train is one of the three tracks along the northern slope of Lodalen, it is closest to the local development. The route is lower than the other tracks to Kværnerbyen and leads at the same level up to the block location Nygårdskollen in Øvre Lodalen. Then she goes to the south and east past Etterstad and on to Bryn and Breivoll together with the Hovedbanen. The track is in contrast to the freight line Alnabru - Grefsen not equipped for passenger service.

On the route, at about 20 freight trains per day.

Stations

On the freight line of Loenga Station, which includes station buildings and platforms. However, the station is just a freight depot. In the borough of Oslo Kværner there were 1957-1977 Kværner the train station, from where the next passenger freight was handled at the Gjøvikbane. Bryn is operated via the route Loenga - Alnabru in freight and passenger of the Hovedbane. The station is still in operation, but without staff. Alnabru was opened in 1902 and once formed the endpoint of the freight line. The station was formerly operated in passenger traffic and closed in 1971.

Railway accident at Sjursøya

On 24 March 2010, a freight train of CargoNet rolled with 16 freight cars of Alnabru in the harbor trackage Sjursøya. The car smashed through a building, while three people were killed and four seriously injured.

Future

In connection with Follobanen to be built by 2020 /21, the preparations for the possible future Bryndiagonale be performed. In the plans of the Railway Administration ( Jernbaneverket ) states for Breivoll / Smalvollen: " Bryndiagonalen to be scheduled concurrently with the new double-track route to ski. " The Bryndiagonale to take in the range of Fyrstikkbakken / Tvetenveien on the Hovedbane. If the Bryndiagonale is completed, the freight line is relieved.
