LÅ“uilley

Lœuilley is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Lœuilley situated at an altitude of 214 m above sea level, 16 km west of Gray and about 30 km northeast of the city of Dijon (air line). The village is located in the extreme west of the département, on the eastern edge of the valley increased slightly Vingeanne.

The area of ​​5.67 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the rolling countryside of north west of Saônebeckens. The western boundary runs along the Vingeanne, with several meandering flows through a Alluvialniederung south to the Saône. Neighboring communities of Lœuilley are Dampierre- et- Flée and Attricourt in the north, Broye -les- Loups -et- Verfontaine in the east, Champagne- sur -Vingeanne in the south and Beaumont- sur -Vingeanne in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Lœuilley belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Montigny. The priory of Saint- Martin was founded in the 11th century. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the place with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. To a field change occurred in 1808, when the neighboring Attricourt was incorporated into Lœuilley. 1821 Attricourt received its independence as a community back. Since 2008 Lœuilley is a member of the comprehensive 14 villages municipal association Communauté de communes des Quatre Vallées.

Attractions

The village church of Lœuilley was rebuilt in neo-Renaissance style in the 19th century. It houses a Madonna statue from the 16th century and a wooden statue of St. Martin in the 18th century. The buildings of the former priory of Saint- Martin are obtained. A stone wayside cross is dated to the year 1755. The covered Lavoir, which once served as a laundry and watering cattle, was built in the 19th century.

Population

With 119 inhabitants (2007 ) Lœuilley one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 211 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1960s.
