Logone Oriental Region
Logone Oriental ( Logone East) is a region of Chad, corresponding to the former prefecture of the same name. Its capital is Doba. The region has about 626,000 inhabitants.
Geography
Logone Oriental has an area of 28,035 km ², lies in the extreme south of the country and is bordered by Cameroon and the Central African Republic. Named the region is named after the river Logone.

Population
The main ethnic group in Logone Oriental are the Ngambay ( Sara ); next live here also Gor, Mboum and Ngoulay.
Economy
There are in the region of petroleum deposits, which in the context of - exploitation project of a consortium of Exxon Mobil, Chevron Texaco and Petronas - ecological and human rights controversial, funded by the World Bank. A pipeline runs from Doba to the Cameroonian port of Kribi.
The population in Logone Oriental, meanwhile, lives mainly on subsistence agriculture and cotton.
