Lohusuu Parish

The rural community Lohusuu ( Lohusuu vald ) is located in Ida- Viru county in northeastern Estonia.

Description

The rural municipality located in the south of the county. It is bordered to 17 kilometers in length on the largest lake in Estonia, Lake Peipsi ( Peipus järv ). Vald Lohusuu has an area of 102 km ². Then live 785 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2010).

Structure

In addition to the main town Lohusuu for rural community includes the villages Jõemetsa, Kalmaküla, Kärasi, Ninasi, Piilsi, Raadna, separators, Tammispää and Vilusi.

Coat of arms

The upper part of the arms points to the woods and fields towards the community. The lower blue field stands for the Lake Peipsi. The colors green and blue also symbolize the historical affiliation with the Tartu county. Silver is the Ida- Viru.

The two horseshoe available for the Estonian and Russian-speaking population of the rural community and for the historically important postal route that led through Lohusuu. The wavy line and the fish hook point to the rivers and fishing.
