Lord Steward

The Lord Steward or Lord Steward of the Household is a title in the British royal court. It should not be confused with the Lord High Steward, the highest of the Great Officers of State in England.

The Office had until 1782 considerable political importance, and the carrier was assimilated members of the Cabinet rank.
